The first parking house in Slovakia with photovoltaics.
Žilina has become a place for an innovative and ecological project that brings Slovakia a new standard in the field of sustainability. As part of the NORDCITY parking house, we built the first parking house with integrated photovoltaics, making us one of the pioneers of ecological solutions in the field of parking and office buildings.
Solar energy for parking house and offices
The roof of the parking house is covered with solar panels, which produce up to 10% of the electricity needed for offices and operations within the Shopping and Parking complex. This solution is not only environmentally friendly, but also economically advantageous. Thanks to the installed power At 122 kWp, equivalent to a production of approximately 135 MWh per year, solar panels efficiently use solar energy to cover part of the energy needs.
For comparison, 1 kWp theoretically produces about 1000 kWh of energy per year, which means that the panels in this project have sufficient capacity to supply a significant part of the building with clean energy. The data on energy production are adapted to the weather conditions in Žilina, so this system is optimized for local climatic conditions.
Combination with a green roof
Another advantage of our solution is the combination of solar panels with a green roof. This innovative technology helps retain rainwater and, thanks to the evaporation process, contributes to the cooling of the building's surroundings. Thus, the green roof creates a favorable microclimate, reduces the temperature around the building during the summer months and contributes to improving air quality.
