At work, a person spends about 8 hours a day, and the space in which he is located affects his work performance. In the construction of modern, green buildings, their energy efficiency and its impact on the surrounding area are taken into account. What is also important is how the buildings will affect their users — people.
LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and WELL(Building Standard) are two of the most recognized certification systems for buildings that focus on the sustainability, health and well-being of employees. These certifications are designed to improve the quality of the indoor and outdoor environments of buildings, with an emphasis on resource efficiency, reducing environmental impact and ensuring a healthy environment for employees.
LEED Certification
LEED- is an evaluation system created by the Green Building Council in the United States, founded in 1993. GBC US brings together more than 20,000 members, including academics, architects, designers, implementation firms, manufacturers of materials and components, development companies. Their goal is to transform the way buildings and cities are designed, built and operated, creating healthier and more welcoming environments while increasing the quality of life.
The LEED certificate assesses:
- Ecology of the place
- Water management
- Energy and atmosphere
- Materials and resources used
- Quality of the indoor environment
- Innovation
- Regional priorities
- Interactive process
WELL Certification
WELL -WELL Building Standard is the first certification system focused exclusively on the health and well-being of people in buildings. The certificate assesses buildings based on several categories such as air, water, nutrition, light, movement, thermal and sound comfort, mind and community. A healthy work environment contributes to better productivity, creativity and concentration of employees. Access to rest areas, healthy eating or supporting a sporty lifestyle are aspects that are taken into account by the WELL certificate.
Reinoo and LEED and WELL certificates
NORDCITY Postalobtained LEED v4 GOLD certification in 2019. In its reconstruction, we made maximum use of recycled materials from the original building. And this is up to 95.7% of construction waste. Low-flow faucets, showers and energy-saving toilets and urinals are installed in the building. As a result, we will save 2 million liters of drinking water per year. Under the parking lot, the most modern seepage pits and oil traps are built, which are capable of capturing up to 300 m³ of rainwater. For cyclists, we have built an attractive storage room with entrance from the ground floor of the building, dressing room and shower. Alternative transport is supported by the placement of charging stations next to the parking spaces next to the building.
NORDCITY Commercialaims to obtain both certificates in the most prestigious Platinum category. The roof of the NORDCITY Business building is 70% covered with greenery, and the remaining part is made up of a high-reflection asphalt strip of light color. Combining these two solutions will ensure that the building does not overheat in the hot months. At the same time, 90m³ of seepage tanks and 30m³ of retention tanks are built on the land, which capture 100% of the rainwater. This water is then used to irrigate the surrounding greenery and the roof.
LEED and WELL certified buildings are not only a great investment, but also an attractive target for both domestic and foreign investors.
